Writing in the Field of Communication

Journalism and Public Relations extensively use writing to convey information. Do not underestimate the importance of writing in the field of communication. Writing is communication.

The most common problem that professors encounter is that students majoring in this field do not know how to write. Students need to know and understand grammar usage and be able to incorporate proper grammar in their own writings.

If students desire to improve their writing skills, students need to read more. Reading makes good writers. Be concise and terse. Boil down the words to only what is necessary. Write short sentences and leave out trivia and trivial facts. Learn to say in a paragraph what would be written in a full page and say in a sentence what would be written in a full paragraph.

The Communication Field requires AP style guide for writing.
